Roberta Blackman-Woods MP (City of Durham) took the opportunity of her first question to David Cameron at PMQs today to challenge him to maintain the Labour Government's agenda on HMO regulation and landlord licensing.
Roberta said
"As people in Durham City know, HMO regulation and landlord licensing is a really important issue, and I am very proud of the work that we did, across parties, before the election to get the Government to agree to these changes. They should help the local authority to better manage private rented accommodation and to tackle areas of high concentrations of HMOs so that our City Centre communities can have a better balance of housing tenure and more family housing.
"I wanted to make sure the Tory/Lib Dem Government doesn't throw out these vital changes to housing policy because they could be of such benefit to many people in my constituency.
"If the Prime Minister is in any doubt about that he is welcome to visit my constituency and find out for himself."
Despite the Prime Minister previously having moved opposition to these measures he did give Roberta assurances that the Housing Minister would be in touch to discuss moving the initiative forward.
