Roberta has officially opened the new Sure Start centre in Sherburn Hill alongside Cllr Claire Vasey, the portfolio-holder for Children and Young People's Service at Durham County Council.

Roberta said, "As the MP, and working with the previous Labour councillor for this area, we fought hard to keep Sherburn Hill school open.  We have built on that campaign in order to get this new Sure Start centre at the school too.  I hope the new centre proves really useful for the village."

"Sure Start is one of Labour's greatest achievements and in other areas where we have them they are extremely popular and useful for parents and kids.  I hope that families in Sherburn Hill will now be able to take advantage of this new facility for the village."

The Sure Start centre will provide early-years education, childcare facilities, health and jobs advice and give mums and dads the chance to meet and socialise together.

Labour and your MP have delivered the new Sure Start for Sherburn Hill and will continue to fight for the village.
