"Boost for schools in Durham will help to support economy", says Roberta

Roberta has welcomed news that schools across Durham will get extra funding from the Labour Government this year.

As part of the Government's efforts to support local businesses and jobs through the recession, millions of pounds of spending on school buildings and repairs are being brought forward from 2010/11 to 2009/10.

Dr Blackman-Woods discusses Afghan situation with Helmand Governor

Roberta welcomed the Governor of Helmand Province in Afghanistan, Gulab Mangal, to the House of Commons this week, in her role as Chair of the Associate Parliamentary Group for Afghanistan.  The MP and Governor spoke about the problems facing Afghanistan, the British role in Helmand Province, the need for continued support from the international community, and the progress made so far since the fall of the Taliban.
