Sherburn

About the Ward:

This is a large ward to the north and east of the constituency. As well as Sherburn itself, the ward also takes in Sherburn Hill, Ludworth, Shadforth, Pittington, West Rainton and Littletown. Sherburn is due to be an area which would access the new university-backed academy when it is built. I am very keen to engage with feeder school parents to hear their views and discuss the advantages such a school would bring to the area.There is a new Sure Start centre in Sherburn Hill and more needs to be done so people from other villages in the area are aware of this centre’s services.

For example, in Ludworth I am campaigning for more Sure Start outreach from the centre in Sherburn Hill so they are aware of and able to access the services on offer there. Young people also need more outreach in this area where lack of facilities remains a real concern.In West Rainton I want to encourage community support for the community centre which does a lot of important work. Bus services also need protecting and improving.
