About the Ward:

This ward covers a very large area in the west of my constituency including Esh Winning, Waterhouses, Ushaw Moor, New Brancepeth, Brancepeth and Broompark.In Esh Winning a masterplan is being devised to look into the villages future and I am very keen to make sure local people are involved in that as much as possible.Ushaw Moor has benefited from education investment with a new Sure Start centre and an upgraded primary school.

Durham Community Business College which serves the area continues to go from strength to strength. I want to see better facilities for elderly people in this ward including better accommodation such as old people’s bungalows and sheltered housing. Another key issue in this area is bus services.In particular,Waterhouses requires better access to public transport than it currently enjoys.
