About the Ward:

Belmont and Carrville are residential areas between Gilesgate and the Sherburn areas. Although just outside the ward, the Durham City Retail Park which opened in the last few years has brought a lot of new jobs to the area, but has also brought increased traffic. Good traffic management is needed to assist the problem.The area has a vibrant new church parish hall and new parish council buildings and a good community spirit.

The Community Centres in Belmont and Carrville are lively and provide good community events. I have been campaigning against the loss of green space in this area and against overdevelopment. Belmont and Carrville contain a large amount of housing, and it is important to try and retain as much open and green space for the benefit of residents as possible.
